First in a Series of Three Intertwined Multimedia Mystery Games
BEVERLY, Mass. (May 12, 1999) Ð Mystery- and adventure-game lovers will revel in the richly detailed, mysterious world of Hasbro InteractiveÕs Clue Chroniclesª Mystery Series. Hasbro Interactive celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Clue¨ game, with its release of Clue Chroniclesª Episode 1: The Fatal Illusionª CD-ROM.
The title is the first in a series of three mystery games for the computer. The CD-ROM series is written by mystery novelist Matt Costello.
Players enter a whole new world of mystery, artifice, murder and crime solving in Episode 1: The Fatal Illusionª CD-ROM. At a showing of rare and unusual artifacts, players witness the murder of host, Ian Masque, and begin to unravel a contorted plot laced with politics, wealth, the supernatural and murder, set in the shadowy and secluded world of an island mountaintop castle retreat, accessible only by boat.
Players encounter all-new eccentric characters who join the usual suspects from the classic Clue game Ð Miss Scarlet, Professor Plum, Colonel Mustard, Mrs. White, Mr. Green and Mrs. Peacock Ð as they find clues, interview suspects, solve puzzles and make accusations to solve the mystery.
Episode 1: The Fatal Illusionª allows players to explore from a first-person point of view all-new graphic environments with a vintage feel, which expand the classic Clue world. Players get closer to solving the mystery as they freely move about the rooms, picking up and collecting items for their inventory and surveying other characters with a type-in question feature. Red herrings, plot twists and side mysteries add another element of challenging suspense and a cliffhanger ending builds up the excitement for the next game in the series.
Episode 1: The Fatal Illusionª CD-ROM, a one-player adventure-role play game for ages 12 and up, guarantees at least 20 hours of rich game play. A dedicated website (www.clue-mystery.com) will feature character backgrounds, mini mysteries and contests. The game will retail for $29.95 (U.S.) and will be available in October.
